Career Movements and Trust
Trust #1
It's been a few months since I took on a new role at Oracle, and the whirlwind of responsibilities has kept me from sharing my initial thoughts.
This role has given me the privilege to join an elite group of over 100 core cloud services owners within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with the service deployed nearly 50 regions worldwide. As part of this team, I am responsible for all engineering related activities for the Java Management Service (JMS) with teams across 7 locations globally. My work involves collaborating with various teams, including product management, marketing, and developer relations and together with all these teams, my team will work to continue delivering value to Oracle Java customers.
This opportunity is both an honor and humbling. I first learned Java in 1999 at Monash University, and now, 25 years later, I am part of the team that oversees the Java language and leads one of its key projects.
Trust #2
Last Saturday, I was appointed as the Lead for Yayasan Mendaki's Professional Network for Technology at the makingconnections event. Technology is a growth sector where we aim to see more Muslims in Singapore become influential contributors to the sector. Along with my co-lead and sub-committee members, we will develop a roadmap and framework to enable our community members to become movers and shakers in the tech sector, not just consumers of technology. I'm truly excited about this role, especially since it marks my return to the volunteering space and align to what I would like to do in this stage of my career and life.
I am deeply humbled to be entrusted with these two projects. I pray that I will execute the responsibilities given to me and blessed with the support needed to fulfil these roles as expected by the organization and community.
