It only just begun - The Tech Professional Network Journey
I am deeply touched by the congratulatory messages from my LinkedIn network following my recent appointment. The kind words are heartening, but this is just the beginning.
With a dedicated team of volunteers and a limited timeframe, we must focus sharply on our goals and execute with precision. The journey to empower the Malay/Muslim community in Singapore to seize opportunities in the tech sector is immense—it requires perseverance, adaptability, and a readiness to act swiftly when opportunities arise.
Our community is surrounded by a wealth of resources: from formal and informal tech groups, government agencies, and multinational corporations, to countless programs designed for young professionals in tech. But the real question is, how can we leverage these opportunities specifically for Malay/Muslim techies? What are the gaps we need to fill, the investments we need to make, and how can we align our efforts to maximize impact and move forward collectively?
As my team and I prepare to meet for the first time next week, we will be brainstorming our vision, setting clear plans, and defining the milestones we aim to achieve. Collaboration will be key—partnering, building coalitions, and tapping into the wisdom of our community, from seasoned veterans to the next generation of techies, will help us shape a path forward.
This is an exciting journey, and my hope is that through our efforts, we will lay down the building blocks that future teams can build upon to propel our community forward in the tech sector. Let us be brave, explore boldly, and work together to make our mark.
